The purpose of creating

Happy to finally share what’s been capturing my attention and curiosity over the past few months here in New Zealand.

The romantic idea of traveling and working faded quickly as we come to New Zealand. To be frank, I was pretty uninspired and a bit lost, I ended up selling ice cream, and when there was no work, I wrote down ideas.

At the time, we were living in Mount Maunganui a coastal town that was supposed to be our gateway to the surfing world. The waves were quite inconsistent, so I began searching for different ways to connect with the surf community and learn more about this world. That’s when we discovered Big Sun a surf brand with a strong visual identity and beautiful boards. I reached out, and it turned out that Big Sun was essentially one person: Ryan- surfer, surfboard shaper, novelist, and artist

When I visited his new HQ, I didn’t really know what I wanted to create. But being there sparked something in me. I got inspired, like a lot. I’ve come up with the question that is not that new to me. 

Why? Why do remarkable people around us do what they do? I asked Ryan that question.

His approach to life and creativity is unique. I hope this short film gives you a glimpse into his philosophy and

that it inspires you, just as the entire process inspired me.
